Although Sosa was born in Cuba and has had longstanding connections with the Latin American philosophical community, participating in colloquia and conferences in several Latin American countries, he was wholly educated and has pursued his entire academic career in the United States. Martín Alcoff was born in Panamá, but at the age of three she moved to the United States, where she obtained all of her degrees and has held all of her academic positions.
