Michael Rea and others have argued that the Trinitarian views of the fourth century Cappadocian fathers (Basil, Gregory of Nyssa, and Gregary Nazianzus) which played a central role in the later development of Eastern Orthodox theology were not all that dissimilar to Augustine's.
